One can wonder some just exactly what range of "art" was encompassed by "Art of Living" classes, but there's probably litte doubt that the courses produced more civilized graduates. The photographs suggest that all manner of courteous, gracious living were part of the curriculum in these classes, and doubtless the courses hurt no one, even if they were not universally successful. What replaces classes like these in year 2004, or where students learn comparable skills, is unclear. To a small extent, girls would be sent off to "finishing schools" in later years to try to learn the same skills. This was not common however.
