Note in the third column the mention of "Grade 5-2," or "Grade 2-2." What did this mean?

Note at the bottom of the second column the mention of students asking their grandparents for items of pioneer life. In 1933 some grandparents might well have remembered when the area was first being settled, which was the 1840s and 1850s.
