Typing is a skill that almost any PC user can use in year 2004. But the skills learned in 1951 in preparation for an office job are now mostly obsolete. Pampered execs might still have an "executive secretary" to do their bidding, but most typing, copying, and other office tasks are now done by individual workers, in part on their own PC. The group or department secretary is mostly a memory in 2004, in some ways a victim of automation. |
