In 1952 there was a big demand for typists. In 2004 there is an even bigger demand, and anyone with a PC knows how to type. But there is no demand whatever for just typists. Word processors and PCs have turned almost every US employee into a part time office worker, and most type their own documents. But in 1952 yet the next big advance would be the IBM Selectric typewriter, with a special ribbor for error correction, removing the need for the little bottle of whiteout. |
