In the world of 2004 the notion of a minstrel show ( page 4, bottom center ) surely hints of another era. A staple of Godwin entertainment from at least 1928 through 1940, such a thing would be unimagineable in 2004.

Like so many Godwin students in the classes of 1945 and before, Virgil Gehrett served with distinction in WWII. Like many Americans of the time, Gehrett also invested heavily in war bonds, something scarcely imaginable in year 2005. The US spent one and a half times the gross national product of the time winning WWII, and a lot of the money came from ordinary Americans investing in their country.|
