Zandstra, Raymond Louis Age 73 of Lowell, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 15, 2015, with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Barbara; children Rayna (Alan) Jones, Wendy Zandstra-Harp, Shelby (Kevin) Sakowski, Kim (Mike) Harding and Ryan (Chayo) Gould; his brother Scott Beaudette; his father-in-law Bruce Weeks; grandchildren Caleb, Jillian, Whitney, Danton, Dylan, Corrie, Jacob, Jordan, Brayden and Gavin; two great-grandchildren Skye and Aidan; nephew Robert Beaudette. Following high school, Raymond proudly served in the United States Navy in Italy and California. He returned to Grand Rapids and built a career in Civil Engineering and eventually formed V-Tec Engineering with his business partner Larry Wilson. He dedicated his life to taking care of his family and helping others. Raymond was a fixture in his community. He served on numerous boards and committees including Schneider Manor Board of Directors, Lowell Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the City of Lowell Planning Commission. Raymond was also recognized as Person of the Year by the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce in 2006. A funeral service will be Monday 11:00 a.m. at the Lowell First United Methodist Church, 623 E. Main St., Lowell MI 49331. Pastor Brad Brillhart and Rev. Dean Bailey officiating. Visitation Sunday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Roth-Gerst Chapel, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell MI 49331 and Monday 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Lowell Pink Arrow Project, c/o Lowell Community Wellness, P.O. Box 246, Lowell, MI 49331 or the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce Foundation, P.O. Box 224, Lowell, MI 49331.
