Class of 1962 - Introduction.

The backdrop for the class of 1962 was that life was good in the US. The space race was on. Large amounts of federal money was being put in to schools at every level. And in general there were jobs for all willing to to prepare for them.

Within three years Vietnam would become an issue for the US, but that gave most members of the class of 1962 time to have children so they could avoid the draft, as was commonly done. And in the early 1962s high quality Japanese electronics, cameras, and cars would start to decimate some US industries. But all in all, the class of 1962 graduated into a US economy that all but assured economic success.
