The information above is from the December, 2007, issue of Godwin Newsletter. The Golden G Club, as it was known in the beginning, was created by Bernard Smith, class of 1943, and Adelaide Grooters, class of 1944. At some point it became apparent that the "Club" in Golden G Club had unwanted tax implications and the name was changed to just "Golden G."
Checks for the scholarship fund can be sent to:

Lisa Marie Deville, one of the 2006 Golden G scholarship winners, sang the lyrics above to the sounds of The Sound of Music. People old enough to be members of the Golden G enjoy the humor of aches and pains, something that almost everyone starts to share at about that age.

Almond Foster, class of 1929, is shown seated in the white shirt in the photograph above. He will be 97 in October, 2007. With the recent death of Alice Fitzgerald, also class of 1929, Almond Foster is now the oldest living Godwin alumni. The second oldest in year 2007 is likely Naomi Doxtator, class of 1930, who is alive and well at 94 years of age, and living in Arizona.
For perspective, the school along Division Avenue was built in 1924 and 1925,
and the first segment of the highschool building along 36th ( Allen Road at the
time ) was built in 1929. Before 1924 Godwin was a one room schoolhouse, which
was starting to become hopelessly overcrowded because of the growth of the
local area. So Almond ( or "Al" as he was mostly known ) Foster spent at least
half of his Godwin days in the one room school house, and the rest in the
school building along Division Avenue.
