Shreveport Octagon house. The old 1st Methodist parsonage at 617 Railroad Avenue later 617 Jordon at Fairfield ave. . Seen on 1896 and 1899 Sanborn maps. It was two stories with a wraparound porch that ended at back addition. That addition held the kitchen. It was built in 1873 and had a cupola. It stood through the 1920s but no one knows when it was demolished.

Whitehall Point Octagon house.

Whitehall Point at Caspiano LA. Shreveport had an octagon house as recorded in a 1994 news article built in 1850s and razed in 1958. Called Whitehall and erected by Leroy Templeman and sold to George W Robinson. Overlooking the Red River, it was moved a mile back in 1902. In 1945 remodeled by William Jones. Abandoned in 1958 and razed in 1965. It had a wraparound porch, detached kitchen and cupola. Today a wedding venue styled after this home is standing there.

Natches. Octagon house. Construction date unknown. Said to now stand near the Jackson Brewery, in New Orleans. Whether it survived the massive hurricane that wiped out much of New Orleans is unclear. Two story. Cupola, with walkway. Porch around the entire house.

New Orleans. Steamboat house. Built in 1905 by Captain Milton Doullut. Located at 400 Egania Street. Modeled after cargo and passenger steamboats. It was originally closer to the Mississippi River, but was moved back when a levee was moved. In 1977 both houses were designed historic landmarks.
